Amplifest postpones eighth edition to 2022, additional weekend announced

For quite a few months, we hoped. But what some deemed an inevitability came to pass and so, what had once soldout is now postponed. We always regret being the bearers of bad news but this time, there is a shining light at the end of the tunnel, there is a positive side to it – Amplifest is not just being postponed to 2022, it’s getting an extra weekend. Yes, you read that right, we are getting two Amplifest weekends next year. The first weekend will take place from October 7th-9th and the second weekend will take place from October 13th-15th, both taking over the Hard Club, in the beautiful city of Porto.

As it stands, the first weekend of the festival will include most of the bands that were previously confirmed for this year. That means Amenra, Caspian, Cult of Luna, Elder, Holy Fawn, Irist, Jo Quail, Oranssi Pazuzu, Pallbearer and Telepathy have all been reconfirmed for 2022. Additionally, the legendary Canadian collective of cinematic post-rock known as Godspeed You! Black Emperor will be headlining the second weekend – they are the only new name confirmed so far -, to present their brand-new masterpiece, AT STATE’S END. A lot more names will be confirmed for both weekends soon, so keep your eyes extra wide open for further announcements.

Amplifest 2022 takes place in two weekends – October 7th-9th and October 13th-15th – at the Hard Club, in Porto. Three-day tickets purchased for the 2021 edition are only valid for the first weekend and ticket holders will be able to purchase the second weekend ticket at a discounted price until August 15th. More information on tickets for both weekends is readily available at the festival’s website here.
