Dismember reunite with original lineup, will headline first-ever Scandinavia Deathfest
It came as a bit of a shock but a very welcoming one. The world-class Swedish death metal group Dismember is reuniting with its original members and are set to headline the first-ever Scandinavia Deathfest for an exclusive European show. For those unaware, the original lineup of Dismember consisted of drummer Fred Etsby, guitarists David Blomqvist and Robert Sennebäck, vocalist Matti Kärki and bassist Richard Cabeza, who went on to record classic death metal records such as Like an Everflowing Stream and Indecent and Obscene. Dismember originally called it quits in 2011 but rumours of a possible reunion have been stirring since 2016. We are glad it all came true.
As for Scandinavia Deathfest, the festival comes under the wing of Maryland Deathfest – who are also the promoters of Netherlands Deathfest and California Deathfest -, and has already revealed the entire lineup for its first edition. Apart from the aforementioned Dismember as headliners, the festival will welcome bands such as Nuclear Assault, Benediction, Demilich, Rotten Sound, Entrails, Demonical, Martyrdöd, General Surgery and Rippikoulu, among others. You can check the entire lineup here. The festival takes place at Kraken Sthlm and Slaktkyrkan, in Stockholm, on October 11th-12th. Tickets are available for 1218, 89 krona – roughly 118 euros -, and can already be purchased online via Eventbrite.
