Empyrium, Fen and Farsot among the first names announced for Prophecy Fest 2019

Ever since its inception in 2015, Prophecy Fest has been on a lot of people’s watchlist. Founded by the eponymous record label, Prophecy Productions, with the intent of bringing into the spotlight not only its own artists but also other otherworldly projects and bands, Prophecy Fest is unlike other festivals out there. Taking place in Balver Höhle, a natural cave formed during the Stone Age and situated in Balve, Germany -, the festival has an interesting view on what a festival is, disliking the idea of having headliners. Rather, the festival considers all its acts an important piece of the whole and all of them are chosen for their amazing live performances. We are talking about bands such as Alcest, Lifelover, Dornenreich, Dool, Arcturus, Darkher, Hexvessel, Vemod and Bohren und der Club of Gore who, among many others, have graced its cavernous and mystical stage. After a one-off debut in Brooklyn, NY last year – which included bands such as Kayo Dot, Xasthur, Novembers Doom and 1476 in its lineup -, the festival returns again to its roots, promising an incredible lineup filled with great acts.

The first ten names are in and it’s already looking as if the prophecy – no pun intended – will be fulfilled once again. We have the symphonic neofolk duo of Empyrium performing an exclusive European show and the atmospheric black metal trio Fen, as well as Year of the CobraA Forest of StarsDisillusionLasterTchornobog and Farsot, who will be performing a special set with Coldworld. Last but not least, there is the return of Strid, a Norwegian black metal group formed by Ravn Harjar (ex-Nocternity), Vicotnik (Dødheimsgard, Ved Buens Ende), Sigmund Hansen (ex-Inflabitan) and Svein Egil Hatlevik (Fleurety, Umoral), who will be reforming to perform an exclusive Central European show at Prophecy Fest. There are still seven more names to be announced, so keep your eyes peeled.

Prophecy Fest 2019 takes place at Balver Höhle in Balve, Germany, on September 13th-14th. Information regarding tickets will be announced soon.
