Eyehategod, Graveyard, Earthless and more confirmed for SonicBlast Moledo 2019

You know those moments in life when good things become so much greater, that the only thing you can exclaim is a “Oh, come on!” or a goddamn “Holy shit.”? Well, this is one of those moments right here. In case you are wondering, I’m speaking of course about the newest additions to the 2019 lineup of SonicBlast Moledo. Now picture this: as per the previous announcements – which you can read here and here -, we already have a bill shockful of great bands. OM, Orange Goblin, Windhand, My Sleeping Karma and Monolord are just some of the eighteen names confirmed for the festival and today, the masters at Garboyl Lives just unleashed seven more. They didn’t need to do this. They didn’t need to add a single band to the bill. But they did. Oh boy, did they ever.

Starting with the obvious names from the headline, the presence of the mighty kings of NOLA sludge Eyehategod (on the photo above) has been confirmed. After they were forced to cancel their European tour back in the Summer of 2016 – which included a stop at SonicBlast -, the NOLA sludgers will finally come down to Moledo in full force to give us a showcase of rapid and fearsome sludge metal. Apart from them, the psychedelic rockers Graveyard have also been confirmed. Returning to Portugal after two years and playing for the first time in Moledo, the Swedish quartet will bring the best of the 70s revivalist movement as evidenced by their latest record, Peace. And speaking of returns, the San Diego improvisers Earthless are returning to SonicBlast! After their impressive showcase of improvisation and cosmic digressions last year, the trio return for a second round of intense emotions and heavy trips.

The rest of the announcement is pretty exciting too. We got the melodic heaviness of The Devil and the Almighty Blues, whose new record, TRE, was released today, the devastating sludge of High Fighter, who are returning to Moledo after their show in 2015, the Mexican fuzz duo Cardiel and the first sight of the Portuguese contingent in the form of Jesus The Snake, who employ a very dreamy and progressive version of stoner highly influenced by Pink Floyd. Oh, and guess what? There are still a few names left to be announced. Isn’t life wonderful sometimes?

SonicBlast Moledo 2019 takes place on August 8th-10th at Centro Cultural de Moledo. Three-day passes are available for 65 euros until April 30th, after which they will change price to 70 euros. They can be purchased online via Bilheteira Online. Daily tickets will be available soon
