Comendatio Music Fest postpones 2020 edition to October
Comendatio Music Fest has announced the inevitable. A couple of days ago the Portuguese government decided, in lue of the current pandemic situation, to ban all music festivals until September 30th, which includes the festival dedicated to the sonorities of modern metal that was originally going to take place in early June. The promoters of Comendatio haven’t given up and after careful consideration, have decided to move this year’s edition to October. This decision brings both good news and bad news – the good news is that the Australian guitarist Plini is now confirmed to performance in what will be his definitive debut appearance in Portugal. The bad news is that Monuments, Vola, Voyager and the acoustic performances of Anneke Van Giersbergen and Antimatter are forcefully being postponed to 2021, with a date to be announced.
As it stands, the lineup of the 2020 edition – which will now take place on October 17th and 18th, at Paço da Comenda, in Tomar – now consists of the aforementioned Plini and the previously announced Haken, Rendezvous Point, Catacombe, Subversive, Rei Bruxo, Dream Pawn Shop, Needle and Fifth Empire. Due to the nature of these changes, the festival has been forced to move all international bands to the second day of the event, on the 18th, with the first day being dedicated solely to Portuguese acts. This, of course, brings some changes to the tickets and in an extensive statement, the festival states that “this year’s admission to the festival will only be possible with the new full-festival ticket for 2020, conveniently at the price of the two-day ticket previously sold”. Furthermore, all daily tickets already purchased for the day Haken were to perform on the original date can either be fully refunded or exchanged for the new full-festival ticket, with the daily tickets for the day Monuments were to perform being automatically valid as a daily ticket for the new Monuments day of the 2021 edition. For the holders of the two-day tickets there are two solutions – the two-day ticket either becomes a full-festival ticket for the 2020 edition that will take place in October or it becomes valid for the 2021 edition.
