Next month: Carpenter Brut brings explosive and dark synthwave to Nantes

What happens when you spearhead an entire movement that was spawned from a genre made famous by the likes of John Carpenter and Vangelis? You make it darker, heavier, faster. Drawing a substantial amount of influence from the darkest corners of music and cinema, especially horror film themes – hence its tributary name -, Carpenter Brut is a darksynth project created by Franck Hueso, that mixess the ecletic, voltaic and sometimes ravenous sounds of synthwave with sinister and hypnotic ambiences. The result is a crunching and devastating, albeit colourful sound, that is absolutely extraordinary. Throughtout its now decade-long career, Carpenter Brut has unleashed tremendously good releases such as TrilogyLeather Teeth and the soundtrack to both Seth Ickerman’s Blood Machines and the videogame Furi, as well as a myriad of single track releases and much more. This year, he released another bombshell of a record, Leather Terror, which includes quite the list of guest appearances; Ulver, Sylvaine and The Dillinger Escape Plan’s very own Greg Puciato were some of the amazingly talented musicians summoned to take Carpenter Brut’s music to even greater heights. On June 22nd, Carpenter Brut will travel from his hometwon in Poitiers, all the way to Nantes to present his aforementioned brand-new record for the first time at the Stereolux, with guitarist Adrien Grousset (Hacride) and drummer Florent Marcadet (Klone) as his backing band. Opening the hostilities on this auspicious and singular night will be Sierra, a young Parisian musician, who mixes EBM, industrial techno, darkwave and sci-fi soundtracks to create an unique and remarkable sound that will get your bones rattling and your body moving. The ultimate darksynth party is almost upon us; make sure not to miss it.

Tickets for the show are still available for 26,60 euros – or 22 euros, with the Stereolux card -, and can be purchased online via the venue’s website here.
