Ever since its first edition back in 2023, Fortress Festival has been the stage for some of the world’s most promising, finest and highly regarded black metal acts. Having two completely sold-out editions under their belt, the fine folks of Reaper Agency, the promoter behind Fortress Festival, have been kindly raising the curtain of the festival’s 2025 edition, revealing the first names that will be partaking in the festivities. And if you thought the festival had no more tricks under their sleeve after two exalted lineups, you are dead wrong. At the forefront of their initial announcements is the legendary North American atmospheric blackened folk metal outfit Agalloch (on the photo above), who have recently returned to activity, and who will be doing an exclusive European performance at next year’s Fortress. Alongside them come the New Zealand masters of avant-garde death metal Ulcerate, who will be presenting their brand-new record, Cutting The Throat of God, in an exclusive UK performance, as well as Ruïm, Forteresse, Spirit Possession, Belore, The Great Old Ones and Perchta, all of whom will also be doing exclusive UK performances at the festival. More names will be unveiled soon, so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.
Fortress Festival 2025 takes place at the Scarborough SPA in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, on May 31st and June 1st. Weekend tickets are now available for 179 pounds and can be purchased online via Reaper Agency’s Big Cartel page, here.
