If you thought that Amplifest was done after its massive lineup announcement back in April, think again! The festival as just unveiled two exciting names that will take part in the warm-up party, which will take place on November 8th, at two different venues. The first of these names is John Cxnnor, the alter-ego of LLNN’s Rasmus and Kjetil Sejersen, based on the Terminator universe. Playing an incredibly sounding mixture of industrial drone meets trip hop and hardcore, John Cxnnor’s music is populated by brilliant guest appearances such as Kim Song Sternkopf of Møl, Witch Club Satan and Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah, among others. Their live performances are as intense and brutal as their music, and one would be urged to catch them live at Ferro Bar, where they will be playing during the warm-up, with the house’s special NO JOY DJ set afterwards. The second name announced is none other than Okkyung Lee, the South Korean cellist, composer, and improviser who moves freely between of artistic fields. With a body of work, both solo and collaborative projects, that takes on a broad array of inspirations, including noise, improvisation, jazz, western classical, and the traditional and popular music of her homeland, this is certainly another unmissable performance at an already amazing festival. Okkyung Lee will be performing at Serralves during the warm-up. One more performance will be announced for the warm-up, so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.
Amplifest 2024 takes place at the Hard Club, in Porto, on November 9th-10th, with a warm-up party on November 8th. Two-day and daily tickets are completely sold out.
