Two days before we got to take well-deserved break from the daily grind and kick back to enjoy the Holidays, there was an incredibly special showcase of heaviness set to take place at Socorro, in Porto. And this one was indeed absolutely unmissable. On the one hand, we had the definitive live debut of Palegazer, a brand-new duo that emergeed from Porto, integrating elements of post-metal, doom metal, metalcore, blackgaze and many other subgenres of extreme music. On the other hand, we had Verbian, who combine elements of post-rock and doom metal to create a sound that is both raw and cathartic, as evidenced by their sophomore record, Irrupção, released two years ago via Antigony Records. An absolute banger of a night, with two wonderful bands, that kicked off the Holidays in perfect fashion. And a special note for Palegazer, as they performed immensely well, and we cannot wait to see what heights they will reach in their career.
