We are closing in on the final names for next year’s edition of Roadburn and while these are not the last ones to be announced, they are certainly as exciting as the rest of them. As always, we got some more curated names, some special sets and some other great names to divulge, so let’s delve into it together, without further ado.
Starting off with a bang, the French shoegazers Alcest are confirmed for not one, but both curated events. Representing a different strand of the festival’s DNA, both Emma Ruth Rundle and James Kent have taken different approaches to their curated selections, but they have found in the French group a common ground. Alcest’s set will focus on their two most recent releases – Kodama and Spiritual Instinct -, and will be titled Visions du futur. Over at their own curation events, James Kent has invited the Norwegian black sludgers Okkultokrati and Emma Ruth Rundle has invited the North American sludgers Inter Arma – playing Sulphur English in its entirety -, as well as Helms Alee, FACS and 40 Watt Sun – with Patrick Walker himself performing a second, separate set.
Elsewhere, we have the excellent confirmations of Algiers, a post-worldbeat band from Atlanta who will be presenting their latest record, There Is No Year, and White Ward, a dystopian black metal band that will also be presenting their latest release, Love Exchange Failure. Last but by no means least, we also have the confirmations of Richard Dawson, Dynfari, Bad Breeding, TAU and the Drones of Paradise, Dommegang, Kungens Män and Darsombra.
