Steel Warriors, heed the final call! The third and final announcement for the 22nd edition of SWR Barroselas Metalfest is upon us and brings forth twenty names ranging from all kinds of musical backgrounds and genres, with all of them sharing at least one thing in common – they will all be playing at the SWR Arena, the festival’s free-entry stage that will be active throughout the festival. So, even if you don’t have a ticket, you can still enjoy some pretty cool names, though we do urge you to buy one, the entire lineup is pretty fucking crazy.
Well then, let’s get on with the announcement itself, shall we? Right off the bat, we have a household name called Sacred Sin, a death/black metal band hailing from Sintra, Portugal that returned after a decade-long hiatus with newfound strength and released their sixth opus, Grotesque Desctructo Art, in the process. Keeping it the death metal scene and its many brutal variants, we have the Czech bastards Purulent Spermcanal, the French pathologists Pulmonary Fibrosis, the Portuguese underground supergroup Grindead, the Portuguese black/death newcomers Summon, the Portuguese occultists Humanart and the Portuguese destructive force known as Archaic Tomb. On the more sludgy side of things, we have the Californian noisemakers Crowhurst and the Portuguese stoner duo Greengo. The Belgium Turbowarrior of Steel and the Brazilian Corpsia will brings the insane speed of thrash metal and the Swedish doomsters Electric Hydra, the Portuguese Son of Cain and the Spanish Nakkiga will deliver the much needed dosage of heavy doom and black metal, respectively. On an entirely different note, there is Scúru Fitchádu, a project created by Marcus Veiga that mixes punk, metal, noise and funaná, as well as the ecletic psychedelic and trans-apocalyptic collective from Baltimore, Maryland known as Darsombra. The Scottish Acid Cannibals will represent the UK punk rock scene and last but not least, we have the finalists of the WOA Metal Battle Portugal: Diabolical Mental State, Grog and Roädscüm will battle for the opportunity to perform at the world-famous Wacken Open Air, the biggest metal festival in the world. The torches are lit, the stages are set, the carnage is ready to begin. See you all in April.
