You smell that? The stench of burning flesh and metal merged together, of corpses piled in the concrete-laced streets, of rotten food spoiled for millennia. But there is a sound amidst all this distraction, a clamour like demons chanting infernal verses; it’s the sound of the rising Monk, the mystical and infinitely powerful force behind Inferno das Febras. Having conjured a new and exciting lineup for this year’s edition of the hellish festival, the Monk will once again guide us through fire and brimstone to salvation.
But this chaotic journey is not done one a single day, but rather two. And we have the help of fantastic acts to will do what they can so that we can transcend our mortal bodies and be reborn anew and cleansed. On the first day, we will get to see performances by North American noise sludge metal masters Whores., the Belgian thrash metal quintet Arkangel, the Polish weed-worshipping doom metal group Belzebong, and the British avant-garde doom metal quintet Five The Hierophant, as well as the finest selection of bands from the Portuguese underground music scene, including the groove metal outfit Equaleft, the sludge metallers Vaneno, the stoner-infused doomsters Lord of Confusion, the hardcore punk outfit NoPath and the instrumental post-rockers Cat Soup.
On the second day, the hazardous and arduous journey proceeds, but the promise of salvation will keep us moving forward, with the help of the Texan crossover thrashers Fugitive and the legendary North American death metal outfit Master. Also lending a hand will be the German instrumental stoner rock outfit Rotor and the Danish hardcore punk outfit Eyes, as well as another fine slice of Portuguese underground music, which includes the legendary brutal death metallers Grog, the infamous Portuguese thrash metallers Prayers of Sanity, the noise rock power trio Oka, the experimental shoegazers Summer of Hate and the trippy rock power trio Navegantes da Rua. Inferno das Febras will take place at the Parque de Lazes de Casais, in Lousada, from August 28th-29th. Daily and Two-day tickets are still available for 18 and 25 euros, respectively, and can be purchased online via Bilheteira Online.
