Merry Christmas, you filthy animals! Vagos Metal Fest is celebrating the most wonderful season of the year with an astonishing announcement that will surely leave everyone with their jaws in the ground. Yeah, you read that headline right, the legendary Emperor are finally coming to Portugal. Born in 1991, the Norwegian group is renowned for being one of the most influential black metal bands of all time, thanks to their four classic records and various EPs and splits. Despite their fame within the genre, the band called it quits in 2001, having felt they had achieved everything they wanted in their career, only to return in 2006-2007 for a handful of shows around Europe. They returned once again in 2014 to celebrate the then 20th Anniversary of In The Nightside Eclipse and haven’t stopped performing live since. They will make their definitive debut in Portugal next August at Vagos Metal Fest, with their classic lineup – that is Ihsahn, Samoth and Trym Torson, as well as live members Secthdamon and Jørgen Munkeby -, and will be playing their second LP, Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, in its entirety, as well as a few other well-known songs from their back catalogue. Be ready for the ultimate emperial live ceremony!
Vagos Metal Fest 2020 takes place in Quinta do Ega, in Vagos, from July 30th to August 1st. Three-day tickets are available for 85 euros and can be purchased online via Bilheteira Online. Apart from Emperor, the festival has already confirmed Testament, Behemoth, Asphyx, Trollfest, Eluveitie and D.R.I., among others.
