Next week: Souto Metal Fest unleashes its first edition with Besta, Gnosis and more

Next week, all roads will lead to the small village of Souto, located in Telões, up in the Northern regions of Portugal. Inspired by the myth of Maronesa, a traditional breed of mountain cattle known for its strength and resilience, Souto Metal Fest promises to showcase the best there is in the Portuguese underground metal scene, both established and upcoming bands, in a single-day celebration where heavy riffs meet distorted mooing.

Headlining the very first edition of Souto Metal Fest is the world-class grindcore outfit Besta, who will be bringing their latest record, Terra em Desapego, as well as the black metal quartet Gnosis, who have recently released their debut record, Within // Without. Also stepping onto the stage to deliver some crushing riffs is the groove metal quartet CHAOSADDICTION, who will also be presenting their debut record, Kintsugi, and the sludge metal trio Music in Low Frequencies (on the photo above), who will be presenting their sophomore record, Catharsis. Last but by no means least, the lineup will also include the alternative metal of In We Fall, the Proletarian death metal of Sarronco, the doom metal of RUINA, and the rock of newcomers Fora D’oras. After the shows, there will be an afterparty featuring the festival’s own DJ set, and before the festivities begin, there will be a walk around the mountainous region of Souto. You can check more information on the walk and enroll here. See you there!

Souto Metal Fest takes place in Souto, in Telões, Portugal, on May 30th. Tickets are available for 10 euros and can still be purchased online via Shotgun.
