After four successful editions which included performances by bands such as A Forest of Stars, King Goat, Abhorrent Decimation, Sea Bastard and Vehement, among many others, Brighton’s own annual extreme metal festival announces its fifth edition with some very special names in its lineup. Entitled Doomsday Fest, the event has been a true celebration of darkness on the South Coast of England for the past four years and that tradition will continue in full when the Hungarian atmospheric black metal group Sear Bliss descend upon Brighton to headline the Saturday of the festival. The band will be presenting their latest record, Letters from the Edge, released last year to some very positive reviews, in what will be a UK exclusive performance. Joining Sear Bliss on the same day will be a contingent of UK-based bands formed by the death metallers De Profundis, the black metallers Necronautical, the crust grinders Foetal Juice, the melodic death metal group Countless Skies, the death/doom metal group Consecration and the melodic thrashers Woe Betide. The Friday and first day of the festival is reserved for the enigmatic black metal collective known as The Infernal Sea, who will be headlining, as well as the doomsters Gévaudan, the death metallers Angron and the post-metal group Tribe of Ghosts. If you are anywhere near the UK during this time and wish for some blackness and destruction, make sure not to miss this festival.
Doomsday Fest V takes place at The Green Door Store, in Brighton, on May 31st and June 1st. Two-day tickets are available for 22 pounds and daily tickets are available for 10 pounds (Friday) and 15 pounds (Saturday). All of them can be purchased online via SCEM Promotions.
