Taina Fest is back to Porto with its usual recipe – a nice and cozy mixture of food, drinks and music that will put every body and soul moving and dancing throughout the night. Happening next week on the 20th, at CCOP (Circulo Católico de Operários do Porto), the good folks of Lovers & Lollypops invite us all for a night of culinary music delights. Check out the great menu that awaits us – for the entrée, we have The Mauskovic Dance Band, the musical adventure of Nicola Mauskovic, the drummer of Jacco Gardner, who is returning to Portugal after melding minds in past editions of Tremor and Milhões de Festa. With a debut self-titled LP fresh off the presses of Soundway Records, they promise to do their name justice by putting everyone dancing to their hearts content, all to the rhythm of their hipnotic sound, influenced by Afro-Caribbean and Cumbia music.
The main course is served via Mdou Moctar, a man that needs little introduction. After taking the stages of Tremor and Milhões de Festa to euphoric levels of joy, Mdou Moctar returns once more to the North of Portugal to present his brand-new record, Ilana (The Creator), his first studio album with a band. Recognized internationally for the energetic way he reinvented the Tuareg tradition of playing the guitar, Mdou Moctar enchants and mesmerizes his audience everywhere he goes and this night will be no different. And last but not least, the coolest Irish in the block, DJ Fitz, will serve us a good dose of bossa nova and zamrock for dessert, and much more. There are no boundaries for this man and you will be able to see why next week. Make sure not to miss this.
Taina Fest takes place at CCOP, in Porto, on June 20th. Tickets are available for 10 euros (presale) and 12 euros (at the box) and can be purchased online via Bilheteira Online or physically via the following stores – Fnac, Worten, CTT, Louie Louie, Matéria Prima, Bunker Store, BOP and CCOP.
